Major or minor service: what is the difference?

Regular maintenance keeps your car reliable and prevents costly repairs, but the distinction between a major and minor service is not always clear. In this article we explain when you need which service.

What does a minor service include?

During a minor service we change the engine oil and oil filter and check key components such as brakes, lights and fluid levels. We recommend this every 10,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.

What does a major service include?

A major service goes further: besides the oil and filters, we also replace the air filter and cabin filter, and check tyre pressure, suspension and the exhaust system across more than 100 checkpoints. We recommend this every 20,000 km or every six months.

What about spark plugs?

Worn spark plugs reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption. During a major service we check and replace them where needed, so your engine keeps running smoothly.

Which service does your car need?

This depends on your mileage, the age of your car, and when the last service was carried out. Not sure? Our mechanics will give you free advice on which service best suits your car right now.

At Car Service Rotterdam we carry out both major and minor services for all makes, using quality original parts. Book your service.
